I don’t have access to the router, so plugging in with an Ethernet cord is not an option. I ran the ipconfig, here are photos. The “media disconnected” seems to be a new problem. I’ve reset my network what seems like a million times.

Photos attached. Also if anyone is willing to help me via zoom, I’ll Venmo.

One of those wireless adapters is connected to a router.

While you're at the command prompt, you should be able to ping the router by typing ping 10.0.0.1 at the > prompt and press the Enter key. You can see that IP address listed as the Default Gateway.

While you're still at the command prompt, type ping www.google.com at the > prompt and press the Enter key.

You should get something like this upload_2020-12-6_15-36-49.png

I don’t understand that. Your ipconfig showed that you connected to the router at 2:50 this afternoon. Does it still show that? Look for when the lease was obtained.

You’re speaking a foreign language to me. Are you willing to hop on zoom with me, or do this over the phone? I’ll Venmo.

Can you please post a new ipconfig like you did in post #21. I want to see if it changed.

I worked with queevy over the phone. He can't get to any external address. He was able to ping his router and another device (his phone) on his home network. That tells me his internal hardware is good.

He was not able to ping a couple of external IP address I gave him, one of those was Google.

We looked at his hosts file. It had only one entry which he said was related to his VPN which we weren't using. We did replace his hosts file with an empty file. That had no effect.

We changed from Auto DNS to OpenDNS servers (just for the fun of it because that shouldn't affect pinging external IPs). No change in connection status.

He said he's tried using his computer on other networks with the same results - no Internet access.

    Anyone have any ideas here?

See if it works in safe mode with networking. If that doesn't help, then re-install the operating system.

Thanks Seth, good idea. That would rule out some startup software.

He's going to try the Ethernet connection today. The router is in the home, but not in a convenient area.

To start in Safe Mode in Windows 10
    Click the Start button
    Click Power
While holding SHIFT on the keyboard, click Restart
Windows will reboot and prompt with a few different options
    Choose Troubleshoot
    Choose Advanced Options
    Choose Startup Settings
    Click Restart
After rebooting, Windows will prompt with several different startup options
Choose Safe Mode with Networking and press Enter

    Hello All,

with the help of a friend last night we were able to determine that my VPN was causing all the fuss. We don’t know exactly what happened, but he said it’s likely a certificate expired or something. But I removed my vpn and other WAN mini ports I created years ago, and it started working again. Thank you all for your help! Attached is my latest ipconfig /all photo.

Thanks for the update. Glad it's working.

Also thanks for the updated ipconfig info.
