That's not what I'd expect to see. Also, what are the two icons on the left of your Notification Area? I'm not familiar with them.

I guess this area is called "Notification Area" - I had forgotten what to call it. The 1st icon on left is called "StickyKeys". The second is called Ad Muncher v4.94.34121/7137(Free). I have no idea what they do or what they are for. Likely something I got long ago for free. Never use them though. The last one on right is the network connections and has an X on it but FiOS says it is connected. I do not understand this. Obviously I CAN connect to internet, send emails, receive emails, etc. I do not recall ever using these two for anything. The 4th is called Touch Freeze. The next says No Battery for I removed it when it would no longer work. Next is speakers which I keep OFF unless using. Next is Action Center which says "no current issues detected if hover cursor. Never really use this area much except for Speakers on and off and security essentials.

How about the one on the left. It looks like two triangles, a red one and a green one.

OOPS ! I never realized this one was shown. It is a shortcut for FastStoneCapture which was there because I had it on for making the files for the pictures I uploaded and posted. It was only there because I had not closed the program yet. This was actually a previous screen shot that I kept. There are usually only the last 8 icons. Sorry for my error. Should have made a fresh screen shot and upload. I use it for making screen shots.
I was mainly concerned over what if anything I should do about the last icon which says my wireless internet is not connected yet it all seems to work normally. Like calling Verizon.

It seems to me that the computer is confused. Click on Change adapter settings. You'll see a couple of network connections. One of them is the one that's working. Right click on it and choose Diagnose. It'll run a troubleshooter. That may fix the problem.

Note: Your machine is working now; you have an Internet connection. Sometimes it's best to leave things that are working alone. Messing with a working computer without knowing what you're doing may cause other problems. If you're going to run the Diagnose option, I recommend that you create a restore point before doing so.

I do not know where Change Adapter Settings is found. I am hesitant to mess around with something that seems OK. A short while ago and for a long time the network connections showed as green vertical lines then all of a sudden vertical red lines with a red X on them showed up. For no apparent reason. Yet I seem to have no trouble with connecting to internet or sending and receiving emails.
I did find on control Panel Home: 1. Manage wireless networks, 2. Change adapter settings, and 3. Change advanced sharing settings but I have never used any of these. Hate to mess around with it. There is one option under Change your network settings that says "connect or reconnect to a wireless, wired, dial-up, or VPN network". Have no idea how to do any of this.

    I'd leave it alone.

I think I will do just that. It all seems to be working as I am used to. Do not want to cause more trouble by messing with things I do not understand. Thanks.

As long as it seems to work as usual and SAYS it is connected with excellent signal strength I plan to let it be. If not I will call Verizon and report some sort of problem perhaps they can help with. Never before an issue.

The farther I go the less i seeem to understand. So I will just "leave it alone" for now until/unless it becomes an obvious problem. May not be good to keep messing with it. Still seems OK except the tray icon looks different.

Why does my internect connections show Connected and Connect automatically to FiOS networks that are not MINE? And if I uncheck Connect Automatically it removes the checkmark but then is still checked connect automatically and is still connected. What ARE these connections? My connection still works fine.

That’s normal. They’re just nearby networks of your neighbors. The computer sees them and is giving an option to connect to them. You won’t be able to connect to them unless your neighbor gives you the password.

Funny... They all say "connect automatically" if I click them but none SAY "connected". I do not know these neighbors or their network and since I have no password I probably cannot accidentally connect to them. The icon now is red vertical bars with a red X through them but it works fine and says it is excellent. I will just leave it alone. There are 3 networks listed other than MINE.

Like you say, I shall treat it as normal.
