Alright well I just bought a PowerColor HD 7950 and I have problems. I don't think it supports my computer. Also I have a midtower case as it doesn't quite fit -.- I took out the hard drive bay and broke the smaller cable that connects to the internal hard drive. I tried booting it up with old graphics card and it boots up but the internal hdd isn't plugged in. I've tried connecting the broken one but it didn't work. Although when I try boot up with my new graphics card, nothing appears on my screen? Does that mean it isn't compatable?

Fk I hate doing this sh**! Please

    Motherboard:
    Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H

    Chipset:
    AMD 880G

    Processor:
    AMD Phenom II X6 1090T @ 3200MHz

    Physical Memory:
    8192MB (2 x 4096 DDR3-SDRAM )

    Video Card:
    AMD Radeon HD 6850

    Hard Disk:
    Seagate ST31000528AS ATA Device (1000GB)

    Monitor Type:
    Acer G245H - 24 inches

    Operating System:
Windows 7 Professional Professional Media Center 6.01.7601 Service Pack 1 (64-bit)

    Computer Case:
    Thermaltake Armor+MX VH8000 Series

Was the reason that I couldn't see anything on boot up with my new graphics card was due to not uninstall the old graphics card? In the instructions it said to uninstall before installing.

    Please Help!

Also, when I said that it doesn't quite fit, I can get it to fit if I take out the hard drive bay the install the graphics card, then put back the hard drive bay. I did this so I could get reach so that I didn't break anything. But when I took out the internal hard drive, The cable just broke so easily -.-

Hi Tallented, welcome to Computer Help Forums.

Before we deal with your new graphics card, I think we should establish just which HDD data/small cable you have broken. How many HDD's do you have installed? You should understand that your operating system is installed on the HDD. If the data cable is broken on the HDD that has the operating system on then your computer will not work!

Does your old graphics card still work? (Where you upgrading or replacing it because it was defective)

Broken cable: Is it just the cable that has broken, or is the connection on the HDD broken?

Ignore the top picture, the bottom picture, the thin red cable.

The cable broke, the hdd didn't not get effected at all.

My old graphics card does still work, although I cannot startup my computer without the hdd.
Only have 1 internal hdd installed (1GB)

There really is very little to do until the SATA cable is replaced. I am assuming that the 1GB that you mentioned is your RAM (physical memory) and that you have no Hard Drive installed at all. There really is no such thing as a 1GB hard drive in a modern computer.

If I am correct and you only have 1GB of memory you will need to increase that to at least 2GB. Although looking at your initial post you seem to have 8GB so I am not at all sure what you are referring to.

OK so just to be clear right now you have a 1TB HDD that is uninstalled and no other, is that correct?

Well even with the HDD disconnected, the card should give some form of display or POST on the monitor when booted. You have 8GB of RAM, I'm guessing either 2x4GB sticks or 4x2GBs ticks, probably the former. Can you try booting up the machine with the new card installed, with only 1 stick of RAM installed, if it works, continue to cycle through the RAM sticks to see if they are all fine.

In the past it has been known that a faulty RAM stick can indeed cause this issue. Also on another note, what PSU do you have? AMD recommends a PSU of over 500W for your card.

Before I start checking the ram and all, (even though I know there fine 2x4) I will try boot up the computer with the new Sata cable. Thanks for the pic, I didn't even pull on the cable, I just unlocked the bay and pulled out the hdd and the cable had no length on it and I guess it just broke.

    I have a WideTech 650W Power Supply.

Alright I've bought the sata cable and plugged it in. Nothing is showing on the screen of my monitor with the new graphics card installed? What can I do to fix it? Should I uninstall the old graphics card?

Alright when I said I plugged the Sata cable in, it's still saying the hdd is missing!? I've plugged it in? The hdd is not damaged, i might of plugged it in a wrong port on the motherboard? There is like 3 sata ports I can plug it into.

How can you tell the hard drive is not damaged?
Even I can't tell unless I run CHKDSK.
    Are your chipset drivers updated?
I would try the other ports on the Motherboard.
Failing that you would need to hook up this Hard Drive to another working computer and see if it is recognized.
I won't ask you to go into the Bios at this stage as you have to know your stuff.
The Hard Drive could well be dead now.
Is there any data on the Hard drive worth keeping?

The reason it isn't broken is because the cable Plugs in perfectly, no visible damage, not flimsy, looks exactly like the other port.

I will now try unplug it all, replug it in a different port.

Alright, my keyboard, mouse, everything is working! Although, I've tried plugging in a hdmi and a dvi cable into the graphics card to view the
Screen. Nothing appears... Why can't I see anything on my screen?
