So the motherboard i have fried and dosnt work anymore, i need a new one but i
cant replace the one i have because its been discontinued and no one will sell me
it. So i need a new one with the same specs. i built my comp 2 years ago so i cant
remember wat parts i have on it but heres some of the parts that i do know:

    G Card:GeForce GTs250
    Processor: AMD X3 435 (3cpu) 2.9ghz
    I have 4 sticks of 2g DDR2 Ram

i dont know what power supply i have because my tower blocks the little sticker
with the info on it andi dont have the right screw driver to take it out, my computer
will load up for about 15 before shutting off so if anyone knows how i can check
what power supply i hav while on my computer that would be helpful.

also heres a link to the motherboard i have, i think that might help a little bit.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138137

thankyou for taking the time to read this and i hope somone can help me out.

    Hi
The specs for that card suggest a minimum of 450Watt PSU.
There is one 6 pin power connector on the card.
Significantly it is a wide card - Dual Slot.
    PCIe 2.0 compatible

You do realise that by replacing the motherboard you will need to re-install the Operating System.

Do you have anything on the hard drive that you need to back-up ?

There isn't an entirely reliable way I know of to get PSU information from the OS, you can get some voltage info but that would be no use in this case, you will need to unscrew the PSU so you can tell us the current wattage.

As for backing stuff up on the HDD, Ken is on about any personal information, photos, music etc, these would need to be transferred to an external HDD, USB flash drive or DVD's depending on how much space you need.

You have an AM3 (socket) processor - http://products.amd....ail.aspx?id=611

    You have two options for the Motherboard as far as I can see and both are a bit of a catch 22;

    1. You go with a slightly newer AM3 motherboard but this would mean replacing the RAM as well.

    2. You go with this Motherboard which has DDR2 RAM slots (though it only has 2 so you would only have 4GB RAM), assuming it will be in stock (it currently has a restocking date of the 17th) - http://www.newegg.co...N82E16813157274

i took it into a computer repair shop, they didnt even turn it on, they just look at the motherboard and said they already knew it was the problem because the capasiters were swollen.
