I have been to hell and back the last 12 hrs trying to get rid of a Trojan.

It renames and moves fIles and deletes shortcuts and some programs won't open.

Because all my Computers are Networked, this trojan embedded itself in the Modem/Router

and infected 8 HDD'S. It damages every Registry.

I wish this trojan on nobody. Countless hours of work.

    It's called TR/Drop.HeliosBinder.rr

Thanks to those for their insight in offering advice.

Don't know where I got it from. ;)

    And as DSTM found out....
it can be removed with security software, but the security software doesn't undo the damage caused.

Moral of the story..... always have an Operating Disc handy.

For those who have bought a new computer, don't keep ignoring the nag to create your own recovery disk with computers that do that, get the disk in the drive and do it.
One good thing about the new operating systems Windows7 and possibly Vista, these days those disks can be used to do a repair, thereby saving your data, you no longer need to reformat and lose everything.
