    So, i just bought a new Samsung laptop.
    I wanted to install windows myself.
    But when i inserted the DVD all that happens is i get 3 options;

    1 - load freeDOS maxium RAM free, using EMM386
    2 - Load FreeDOS including HIMEM XMS-memory driver
    3 - load freeDOS without drivers

    Any option i slect it comes up with a bunch of writing, amongst it "No drives assigned" and "SHSUCDX can't install", with a C: command prompt at the end.

    i've tried using the FreeDOS cd that came with the computer, but it does the same.
    i've tried changing the boot sequence, but it chanes squat.

    How do i get it to start reading the DVD drive to load either FreeDOS (which i'm unsure if it's already installed) or Windows 7?

    Anyone?

    What kind of a CD are you inserting? Is it a windows operating system disk and if so which one? Do you have drivers installed for your computer hardware? Was this computer new? Why would you want to install a freeDOS disk?.

    Ok, so i've managed to get into the freeDOS installer, but once i get to the point where i choose a directory (i assume just as it's about to begin installing) it says "Error reading installation database". Regardless of options i choose, it still won't install it. it just gives me the old Abort, Retry, Ignore options (and i honestly don't think the Retry option is trying hard enough).

    What do i do????

    Don't i need a DOS system for my computer to work?

    I will try again? Do you have an operating system disk? What is it? Window XP, Vista W7? No you do not need to install DOS.

    Do you have a genuine copy of windows from Microsoft or is it a copy that you obtained elsewhere?

    Just going a bit further. Not only are you using a pirated copy which I suspected all along but you are not even using it correctly. Is Thailand not part of the civilized world? DSTM has given you the rule and we take our responsibility seriously. You are free to remain as a member but this thread is closed.
