So, my friend recently bought ArmA: Armed Assault for the PC to play it with me. However, upon playing it he gets this extremely weird problem, and I honestly don't know how to fix it.

So, his screen looks like this when he starts it up:

He has the latest drivers. His PC specs are:

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition (build 7600), 64-bit
    ATI Radeon HD 4550
    Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5400 @ 2.70GHz 2.70GHz
Installed Memory RAM : 4.00 GB

We're honestly unsure of the problem.

But, I have an ATI Radeon HD 4200, and I've never had this problem. My computer honestly seems alot weaker than his, and I have none of these problems.

    Mine are

    Windows 7 Home Premium SP 1, 64bit
    AMD Athlon II x2 240 Processor @ 2.80 Ghz
    3.00 Gig Ram
    ATI Radeon HD 4200

Now, I have no problems with my game, but he does.

Wait till "Woodyblade" comes on a bit later.
He may be able to shed some light, as he is into Games.

It looks like a graphics corruption issue, the obvious unknown here is what graphic settings (in the game) do you have on both computers, if he has them set too high then the lag because the graphics card can't keep up would cause that tearing of the image.

If they are set higher than yours you would need to tone them down a bit, turn Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic settings off as well as turning down the shadow and lighting effects as they are the more heavy graphics settings, the game usually detects the appropriate settings but may have put it a bit too high by default.

The correct driver package for that card would be either AMD Catalyst 12.4 (Stable) or 12.6 (Beta), so if Catalyst Control Centre isn't that version then you would also be best updating to that version if you aren't already.

Alright. The problem is, when he hits one of the boxes (Because those small black boxes are the main menu buttons), it brings up more black screens. We're not sure how we can get his settings lowered if we cant see the settings.

We're not sure if he has CCC, he's gonna check shortly.
