As all things High Teck once the development costs have been met, and copyrights resolved, that's when I foresee SSD's moving forward into mass production and costs falling.

Exactly. I think we all remember the cost per storage dollar, when Hard Drives were on the lower part of the learning curve .... as SSDs are today/

Flash memory is more expensive though, its a much smaller scale (which as we all know) makes the price bump up.
the manufacturers need to sell more units to make the profit to buy in bigger volumes to reduce cost per piece etc etc

The size of the SSDs available back the above up, but no one will buy them at their current sizes, dont write (see what I did there  ) the humble HDD off yet, it could be another HD DVD.............

Okay. Today, I'm talking about a system I just built for my cousin.

It's a mix of parts on hand and new parts.

    Consisting of AMD's Athlon 64 X2 5200+ (ADA5200CZBOX) 2600Mhz CPU . Presently Prime95 stable @ 2900Mhz (auto. voltage) / 60*C on the stock HSF, thanks to Antec Silver 5 (same as Arctic Silver 5).

VHP x64, Asus M3A78-EM, LG Blue Ray combo drive, 4GB's Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800, Antec 900, Antec Basiq 500 watt PSU w/ two 18A rails ( more than enough for the Sapphire Vapor-X 5770 in the wings ).

I may even be able to squeeze 3000Mhz from the CPU. B) It's been fun.
