They did more than "add another fan".

Here's a quote from the below link:

    H70

"The Hydro Series H70 is an evolution of the award-winning Hydro Series H50, with several significant upgrades that enable it to deliver even greater cooling performance. These upgrades included a thicker 120mm radiator unit (50mm) with a higher heat-exchanging capacity, and a more efficient, low-profile pump/cold-plate unit that can soak up more heat and provide even lower CPU temperatures."

    See Corsair Blog

"To start with, we doubled the thickness of the radiator. Increasing the surface area of your heat exchanger is one of the best ways to increase heat dissipation in any cooling setup. By increasing the radiator thickness, we were able to boost performance without significantly affecting compatibility. When you go to a thicker radiator, it’s almost a sin to starve it for airflow. So for the H70 not only did we add a second fan, but better yet we upped their performance as well. The fans that come with the H70 up the speed of the H50 fan from 1700RPM to max of 2000 RPM. The dual fan setup gives you push-pull compatibility out of the box."

The following is related to my overclock. But it specifically concerns The Windows Experience Index.

Previously, because my system was not Prime95 stable, the W.E.I. assessment tool would always crash.

Not so, anymore. But the numbers I get are the same as if my system were running at stock settings.

    I don't get that.

You will rarely hear from Dalo on the weekend. I suspect that there will be something when you wake tomorrow.

I think there was one point where, while we did not lose data, we did lose some the notifications of new posts or topics. I suspect he will see it now.

Where is the MBR and page file located? this is often where the WEI will calculate the HDD speed.

As for it not updating I have had this happen on all of mine, they stick at 5.9 for everything, I dont use the WEI for benchmarking I use 3dmark ;)

It finally did change. But not by much. I only have the two v'raptors in RAID0.

Those are not bad scores, You just need a SSD now that will make your start up times screaming fast and any programs you have on it are almost instant start

I'd love to be able to afford three or four SLC SSD's and have near GB read/write speeds. But the prices are still outrageous.

They are slowly dropping, but I dont think anyone can justify the price tag, and the read speeds are very good, write speeds are not.

    For MLC this is true.

    Intel SLC

The Intel ones do seem to be the best, but again they dont justify the price tag.

There were some serious flaws in the software with some of the cheaper SSDs, whether this has been rectified I dont know, but last I read they hadnt (the cheaper ones are the ones that have rubbish write speeds)

    Still ridiculously priced.

I dont mind paying a premium for noticable increases in performance, but I think the whole SSD idea has been so hyped up.

RAM drives have been around for years, yes they are still pricey, but its not a new concept and companies throw all these figures into it, they are not that much better than a 10,000RPM HDD (yes as lappys often use slower drives so it would help lappys)

I wont be jumping on the bandwagon until the prices come near to SATA drives......

It seems we're beginning to head in that direction.

Dont get me wrong I do see some of the benefits of Solid State, such as moving parts etc, smaller etc.
    BUT
At the cost it's not a practical every day solution.

You're right about that. As I said the move toward more reasonable pricing/improved performance seems to have begun.

I think, in the long run, Solid State Devices will be cheaper than Drives with moving parts that require extreme accuracy in positioning of those parts.

[That may presage the end of the Winchester Drive ... and, about time!]

The reproductive process used in the creation of Solid State Devices should result in reliability increases and manufacturing cost reductions.
