Hello folks. What things in my C drive can I safely move to D drive without causing big problems? My C drive was at 75% but I moved some big document files to my F drive and so C drive is now 55% but I want to move more so that in the future I don't get up to such a high percentage of space being used up. I just want to do it right. See a couple of snips attached. Thanks, Dave

You can move your documents, video's, music, pictures and downloads safely from C drive to D drive.

The only things I can see that shouldn't cause a problem are your downloads, music, and media, however be sure there are no installed programs in the media folder.
Program files will have to stay put, however the performance logs may be deleted unless there are performance issues.

Well Rich, I did not know that was possible. That would solve the issue right there. Should I make sure D is empty first? That is, should I move everything to C first?
Thanks to Nev and Allheart for the info too.

Yes, once you delete D drive to extend C, you will lose anything on there so make sure you move everything that you want to save.

I did it Cindy and had no problems. I do plan though, in a couple of weeks, to purchase a new os. What would you recommend? Win 8? Win 8.1? Or would you recommend something entirely different? I ran the Win Upgrade Asst and it told me I could run 8.0 and 8.1 but I do not know about Win10. Thanks, Dave

If the computer hardware is older than five years, I would seriously look into a completely brand new computer and wait till Windows 10 is fully released Dave. Upgrading the operating system from Windows 7 is not a thing I would consider on my computer and it is only three years old.
Besides which, Windows 8.1 is absolutely terrible to have to relearn how to use a computer just to get anything out of it, and considering how good Windows 7 is, no thanks to Windows 8 or 8.1. Just my two penny worth is all.

Thanks Nev for the comments. To tell the truth I love Win 7. But this thing I have now is not original. Its very hard to find original here in the Philippines. I have some corrupted files on my system and I just need to get original and do things right. I will search in Cagayan De Oro next month when I go and try to find Win 7 original. I need to buy it outright as I do not have credit cards, I must pay cash. I know its possible to buy it on line but there again I would need credit cards to do so. Since Microsoft is not selling any more licenses for 7, I think all I will find in the store is 8 and 8.1. I will give it my best shot though. Blessings, Dave

Windows 7 will be supported until 2020 so why worry about it. Many of us think it is the best OS Microsoft ever created. You can buy all you want on eBay and I would bet Amazon as I see Newegg still selling it.If Newegg ships to Philippines which I bet they do that would be your best bet.

I see you are done already and actually I wasn't suggesting you wipe away "d" drive, just merge half of it into "c" drive which you can do without danger to any of your files but since you are done so be it.

Most of us are finally liking Windows 8.1 after we make the necessary changes like adding Classic Start Menu or Stardock "Start8"....as 8 is really propped up on Windows 7 anyway. There are a few things 8 does very nicely as it is quicker, starts quicker and flies through a few operations 7 doesn't do the best with.
I am concerned that 10 may further tinker with the ribbo9n which is what 8 did and remove still more features that are so easy to work. I like "File, Edit, View, Tools, Help" especially for the ability to do Edit slect all which is now totally missing in Windows 8. But I could go on and on.

Get yourself a pre-paid Visa and pay for the original online if you want a copy of 8 or 8.1. It's actually not that hard to find it there where you are even windows 7 Try to buy the original will cost more and you need to find a reputable shop to buy it from.

Thanks ChronoGeek, I did in fact find Win 7 Professional and am having it send out here to Camiguin. Thanks for the info on the prepaid credit card, I will do that. Dave
