Obvious question but have you checked your connection? Does the monitor light blink or anything? Do you hear the computer booting up? How old is the monitor? Have you had any issues with the monitor before you took everything apart? A little more information would be helpful. :)

Did the Nvidia card come with the computer or was it added later? What was the original card? Was it separate or onboard? (Part of the motherboard.)

    Hi Pchelp68

    thanks for your response.

first the monitor comes on in 'stand by' mode

the computer seems to turn on and start up OK, I get the windows start up sounds out the speakers anyway.

    Hi Beeceebee

Thanks for your response as well

the Graphics card was installed by the shop 'PC World' When I bought the machine, they said I would need it for playing games,

all was working well before I unplugged the cables on the rear to move it, when I plugged everything back in and turned it on all seemed ok apart from the monitor stayed on 'stand by' instead of turning on.

hope you can help me, and thanks for your responces

Take a look at the back of your machine and see if there is another place available to connect your monitor.

If PC world installed your graphics card it is likely that the machine came with one already part of the motherboard and, therefore, unable to be physically removed. If that is the case there should be another connection on the back of the machine. You may have attached your monitor to that.

Were you careful when you moved the system? As if the machine or monitor took a knock, it could have dislodged the graphics card or damaged another part causing this problem.
