Microsoft KB2859537 Update Still Causing BSODs on Windows 7

Users are recommended to remove the update until a fix is released
As I’ve reported several times in mid-August, one of the updates released by Microsoft last month was causing lots of problems on Windows 7, including BSODs when trying to launch specific apps.

While the company has indeed pulled the update and is no longer shipping it to Windows 7 computers, a fix is yet to be released, so unless you removed the KB2859537 entry from the “Programs and Features” screen, chances are that you still get a BSOD.

Microsoft hasn’t provided too many details on this, but some forum moderators explained on the Community forums that hardware incompatibilities might actually be behind these problems.

As a result, company representatives have tried to get in touch with affected customers in order to collect more data on the issue and thus speed up the development of a fix.

“Worked with MS again yesterday to remove the KB package using the command line via the W7 DVD, but even having done that the BSOD still happens on reboot. Certainly looks like the damage is done on installation, prior to the reboot,” one of the affected users explained.

Since Microsoft is yet to find a fix for this glitch, expect the company to address all problems this month as part of the same Patch Tuesday update cycle.
