For the first time since Windows 98 I seem to have Microsoft Works preinstalled. I was just going through my programs to get rid of surplus junk. Considering that I have Office 2007 installed, is there any reason to keep works at all. I don't feel like looking through it but I have always assumed that it is just very basic office software.

    Am I correct?

You are correct, Barry. It has a word proccesor, spreadsheet, office templates, calender etc.
There really isn't anything I can think of that isn't already included in Office.

Microsoft Works is the "Old Office".

It's not as user-friendly as Office, and it IS out of date. You generally found Works present on off-the-shelf machines that don't come preinstalled with Office as it costs so much to buy (More than Windows OS itself).

Not sure now with many free alternatives around, much more capable than Works such as Open Office, I believe Microsoft have stopped with Works and just forces people to buy Office.

Depending on what flavor Office 2007 you have, you might not have (or want) the database program.
