I have win7 64Bit and I know how to go into msconfig and go into the StartUp Tab.

And I uncheck everything but my Anti Virus Program.

I do this to free up memory.

Now I know you can go into Task Manager and Stop Processes or Programs.

But I thought as soon as you restart the System they would Re Enable and start again?

    Here is the video

Is that video of your computer?

For reference, my Windows 7 (64-bit) machine is using 3.3 GB RAM with just Chrome, anti-virus and other typical background apps running.

I'm guessing you're stopping processes in hopes of speeding up your computer. There may be other things going on that are slowing your computer down.

You are correct. Stopping processes using msconfig stops the process only for that session. Once you restart, process set to start when booted will start back up.

To change the startup characteristics of a process, right click on Computer and go to Manage. There you will see a Services and Applications item in the left-hand pane. Click the arrow to open it up. Click on Services. There you will see the list of services installed on your computer. It'll tell you which services are set to start automatically. You can change the startup type by right-clicking on a service and look at its Properties. Once there, you'll see a drop-down menu for changing the startup from Auto, Auto delayed, manual, and Disabled.
