Ok,just to lighten things up a bit, it isn't anywhere near Talk Like a Pirate day, however this is funny as well as not too bad musically.

If you look up that artist on Youtube he has quite a few other funny songs, especially look out for the space age variation of "Seven Drunken Nights"

I shall have to take some video of a local keyboard and piano player next time I catch him playing anywhere. Steve is also blind, there must be something about the extra sense being missing that can make a good musician perhaps.

That would be great, Nev, and I think you definitely have something there about the extra sense.

Here is a wonderful finale to a superb piece of music. To those who are new to this, just take the trouble to listen to the end.

I have left several instruction for the kids for when I pop off. They are on a memory stick. They are not in place of a will, they are just the most important things that I want to make easier for them, pre any will reading. One instruction is for my funeral. I have instructed that there is no religious mumbo jumbo, just a plain simple humanist ceremony followed by cremation. This is the music that is to be played.

Most of my friends know good music when they hear it. Mahler's music lives on and on. That is more than can be said for todays bang bang rubbish.

There is a tremendous amount of excellent modern, and recently written music for brass band. Here is "Music for a Festival" by Philip Sparke.
The composer Philip Sparke has written many pieces and this is one of my favourites. Not surprising really as I am somewhere at the rear on the left playing in this piece.
It is one of many written by numerous composers specifically for brass band contests, however do not let that put you off till you have heard it.
Needless to say that this actual performance won us, the band, first prize.
Unfortunately at the time, Youtube had a restriction of ten minutes only, so the whole had to be split into two parts, here is the first movement, the second and third movements are in the second video.

Isla Grant is a wonderful singer song writer with Scottish ancestry. some of it comes out in her songs of which there is a long list of them here on Youtube, just let the first song play and the next automatically plays straight after. Some may bring a tear or two, but I hope you enjoy them all.
You will have to go on to Youtube for the next song to play after the first has finished. The embedded version on the forum does not continue.
