Do I need this? I was updating Adobe Flash plugin to stop the outdated warnings in Firefox and now a MacAfee Security Scan shortcut is on desktop. Was unaware I had anything like this but there is a Dec 2015 folder in Program Files just created. Can I delete/uninstall this? Didnt want or realize it was maybe included. Do watch but sometimes off guard.

No you don't need it. FYI there is a small program that will stop all that stuff. Named 'unchecky'. It's included in the Software World section, in the CHF Recommended Software under Adware.

Uninstall McAfee using the removal tool, HERE

So that this doesn't happen again, I recommend using UnChecky which can be found HERE

You made the mistake of NOT paying attention to what else was being installed when you Adobe Flash. The installer does give you a choice NOT to install additional software, you just have to pay attention. This happens with many software installs, especially 'free' installs (the added software company pays them to add).

Most folks hurried click preselected offers by Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Shockwave Player and soon find out McAfee product are installed on their computer. Adobe Systems covers themselves legally the user read the terms their license agreement and download the PDF file about 50 pages to prevent being sued.
    Nice one! I like UnChecky!!!!
