Gigabyte Board is a personal preference.

 

Thats not a bad mother board but i really want to have the 2 pci Express 2.0 slots so I can crossfire later on.

 

Just a side note Patrick. I would not suggest overclocking. To be honest overclocking can smoke your computer.

Well my case just got delivered, it makes my other one look like nothing. and it came with a 3rd 120mm fan too

 

Yeah I will, and i take pictures of everything too

 

Cool but don't forget the cable ties, spaghetti should be kept to tidy and confined to the edges of the case

Nothing annoys me more than opening a PC and finding spaghetti all over the place

 

By all means get the cable ties please. Match can get really crabby when he is annoyed.

 

Reminds me of when I had Chuck Norris's PC to sort out, the pictures are in my albums. he had some "professional" put his system together, who decided to replace all the fan wiring with new stuff for no reason at all, well he connected every single fan to a molex because he had more fans in the case than he had room for on the mobo, but he didn't bother to measure anything up and just stuck about 10m of green rubber wiring into the case.

When I got it, I originally offered to tidy it up but then I saw how bad his case was, you had about 3mm on the other side of the mobo to route wires... so I opted out of it and decided it's best to just tie it all up to the side and out the way of the fans.

I had to rewire everything, including the front I/O just to free up the fans.

So yes Patrick, don't forget to route as much as you can behind the mobo and what you cant, just tie it together in a neat bundle out the way of any important airflow needed. There should be plenty of room for un obstructed flow of air from the in take fans through to the out take fans.

And nice finds Dee and Cindy, as you said Gigabyte is a personal choice as is Asus for me, so either way it works. And I would also stand by your point that overclocking CAN cause problems, but that again is a personal preference and if done right, will be no problem at all. But that is up to Patrick to make as it is his system. But I would suggest looking around or asking for some info about OC'ing if you're still undecided.

And as Barry said, make a new one when you build it and don't forget to ask ANY questions if you are unsure or stuck somewhere, better getting it done properly with a little time waiting for us to reply, than not being sure how something goes and forcing it in wrong causing you to need another CPU fan or something. Also take into account Dalo's albums, he has tried to get pictures of a build he has done in the past to try and help others see where things go etc.

 

I don't really plan on OC, but I want to make sure I am able to if i do want to do it later on.

I have been been watching some youtube videos on how to assemble, And I don't think it will be a problem.


And I will take the time to make sure my case is nice and tidy, I don't want want to end up with "Spaghetti".

i am still looking around on the mother board I wont be able to order it until next friday anyways but those boards do look nice.

 

The board that Cindy and I recommended will suit your needs. Will actually exceed them.

well I am back to looking around for a Q9550 With E0 stepping...

I went up to Fry's tonight, and all they have are the C1 with no plans on ordering more. with the I5 coming out in september

 

Well the C1 can still be OC'd but just not as much or as good as the E0, it depends on how serious you are about OC'ing and how much you want to gain from it.

 

I don't really plan on Overclocking right now, but I want to have the option available. I still have 3 weeks before I buy my processor, So I might just end up buying off of newegg and hope I get lucky.

 

Hey, this is Patrick's brother. Is it worth Pat going quad-core over a decent dual-core? All he does is play wow and browse online, is there a advantage to going with the quad-core over the dual-core? Anything is an improvement over what he has now, but we're trying to determine what is the most cost effective method to upgrade his system.
