LogMeIn Free is no longer free.

Can anyone who has used LogMeIn compare it with Teamviewer and others?

    Hi Fred,

I have used TeamViewer (free) for the past four or five years. I originally used the free version of
LogMeIn until I found TeamViewer. It's a much lighter program and I think it's a lot easier to use
    than LogMeIn.

TeamViewer has a few different versions. I have almost always used the Quick Support which you
don't have to install. This link describes each one and how it can be used.

    http://www.teamviewer.com/en/download/windows.aspx

Dougie (DSTM) and Tony (Dragnet) also use TeamViewer. I'll point them in this direction.

    Hi Fred.
I have used the free version of LogMeIn and Crossloop. I use Teamviewer almost daily for the last four yrs and very happy with it. Simple to use and does everything I need when accessing computers across the world. PseFrank has accessed my computer almost daily teaching me Photoshop. Teamviewer can be used for lots of uses. Teamviewer gives you a new security number every time so security is first class. Best I have used to date.

I've been using LogMeIn for years. I use it mostly for helping my blind friend. What I like about it is that the user doesn't have to do anything to allow you access other than turn their computer on.

I also use TeamViewer to help out users now and then. With these people, they have to download the program themselves. That allows us a one-time session.

Both programs work good enough for me.

A friend of mine uses UltraVNC. It's free, but it takes some time to figure out how to use it. I got frustrated with it and continued with LogMeIn. What's nice about UltraVNC is that you can customize it and add a logo of your own. To use it, you would email an app to your user. They would then install it on their computer.

    Pricing:
    TeamViewer - $749/yr.
    LogMeIn - $49/yr for 2 computers.
    UltraVNC - free

I use the FREE version of Teamviewer. Does everything I need.
Never once been questioned by Teamviewer how many times I use it.

I logged into my LogMeIn Free account this morning and was persented with a screen stating that my account will expire on Feb 13. I was given the option of purchasing it for $49/yr for 2 computers. This price is 50% off the regular price and is good for only the first year. This is for LogMeIn Pro. I'm not familiar with the other products.

Note: My original post incorrectly stated that I logged into my TeamViewer account. My TeamViewer account still looks fine. It's the LogMeIn account that presented the screen stating that my account will expire on Feb 13.

I also have Team viewer, the free version, and just checked it! There is no warnings about it running out or expiring for me, just a standard notice that there is a newer version available.

Same here...but then again, I use the Quick Support version.
I don't know if that makes a difference.

opps.... referring to my post #6, I meant to say I logged into my LogMeIn account (not TeamViewer account). I will edit the post to correct it.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

I know about TeamViewer, but there was something I objected to. I'll have to go back and reexamined it.

I have used VNC in the past, but you have to go thru some initial IP identification and firewall exclusion that can be a pain.

Also, from my local computer club, I got:

    ttp://www.techshout.com/alternatives/2012/17/logmein-alternatives/
    To be checked out.

    AAMMYY
    Free open source. Maybe

    - Skype, sharing only (owned by Microsoft)
I tried Skype with one of my friends who has Windows 8.1 and couldn't get the desktop share to work.

    - Google hangouts (sharing and control)
I am hating the obtrusiveness of Google.

    - Google Remote Desktop Chrome extension (sharing and remote access)
    Hmm, maybe, but it's Google.

    - WebEx (the Big Daddy of business desktop sharing)
    Not interested in paying.

Hi Fred. Almost all the CHF Techies use Skype and Teamviewer at the same time.
    Works for us.
I have tried many and read hundreds of comments on each remote access program
and always come back to teamviewer.
