Live messenger on Terminal server 2003 R2 SP2

Discussion in 'Windows Home Server' started by Leon Blokland, Aug 26, 2009.

  1. Hi,

on one terminal server 2003 R2 SP2 we are using Live messenger 8.1, but
since today the clients are asked to update this to a newer version. If they
won;t accept the upgrade, they will not be able to continue.
the upgrade doesn't work, this is the 8.5 version which is not suitable for
    windows server.

Can anyone advise me how to use messenger and disable the update function?

    Thanks,

    Leon

Anything more on this issue. We really used Live Messenger a lot in our 2003
Terminal Server environment. After MS "forced" the upgrade, we can use IM
anymore. We are not presently upgrading to Terminal Server 2008 nor do we
intend to in the near future. Why, MS? WHY? Not one single explanation
anywhere to found why you decided not to support Live Messnger on 2003! You
still support it on XP! Can anyone provide a answer to this?
