Laptop Lights Turn On, But Nothing Else

    So out of no where my computer turned off the other day and ever since my computer will not turn on fully. When I push the power button in the lights at the bottom and the light by the power button turns on but the fan and the monitor stay off. The Disk Drive still opens and closes, if that matters. I've tried it with the charger plugged in and the battery out and just with the battery in. Nothing happened. I'm hoping the motherboard isn't fried or something like that... And if it is, how much would that be to replace. (Not doing it myself).

    I don't really know the specs because I normally look that up on the computer but since I can't right now, all I can give you is that it's a Samsung NP-RV510. It's only 2 years old.

    Hello. I'm sorry to hear about your problem. You've come to the right place. My initial thought is that you may have a hard drive problem. I'm sure others here will help with a diagnosis.

    Try booting to Safe Mode first. You'll do that by tapping the F8 key after pressing the power button. You should see a temporary start menu. Use the arrow keys to highlight the Safe Mode option. Then press you Enter key.

    Now, you may not be able to get to that point. We'll need to know that.

    Let us know how far you get
