I recently put together a computer with the following hardware:

    Asus P5N-D Motherboard
Galaxy Geforce GTX465 (1 gig video memory)
    2 x 250g hard drives
    2 x 2048 DDR2 Ram
    650W Earthwatts Antec power supply
    IntelE6700 Pentium Dual-Core E6700 Processor 3.20ghz

    I am using windows 7 64bit.

I have all my drivers up to date. My BIOS is up to date.

The problem I am having is heavy lag while playing games. I've attempted every trick in the book but I can't seem to figure this one out.

Examples of games that experience heavy lag are Bad Company 2, Mafia II, Crysis(of course) and even games that don't take advantage of DX10/11 experience some lag.

If anyone can give me some advice, I've got open ears on this, I really want to get this computer to use.

    Hi Dandin.Welcome to CHF.  :)

Ask you to be patient, for a short time as our techie, well versed in this area,

(Dalo Harkin) from the UK.should be on a bit later, to advise you.

Looking at your Specs, you haven't near enough Ram for Windows7, 64Bit.IMO.

At least 8GIG's would be an advantage.

Different versions of Windows7 can utilize different amounts of Ram.

CPU has a bearing on the amount of Ram that can be read.

I set my static Page File size (Virtual Memory) to 1.5 times the Ram installed,

    however 2.00 times,is not uncommon.

Hi Dandin - glad to have you here with us!

As Doug said, our Experts will be here as quickly as possible to give you a hand (computers are magic but these pesky time zones still exist - gentle smile) - and in the interim, thought I'd just pop in to say hi and say that while always welcome in any of the computer sections, please know we'd be happy to have you join in our social section any time, too.

Hope you're back up and running with no lag at all when playing the games ever so soon, Dandin - and again, a happy welcome to you!

    Mara :)

I appreciate it. I have plenty of waiting time, I have to get some sleep for a day full of classes.

ASUS - are there any others worth buying?
    CPU:
Q6600 at 4.0Ghz per core (Watercooled)

    Hard Drive:
    Samsung - all the way
    Graphics Card:
    XFX 260GTX rev 1
    Power Supply:
    Seasonic 600Watt
As its a new build, did you install the chipset drivers for the MOBO?
did you get the GPU drivers from Nvidia?

4GB is fine for W7 even 64bit, no games will utilise more than 5GB of RAM (including the 1GB on the GPU)

Are you running the HDDs as RAID? Also are the games installed on the other disk that is not the OS drive? as this can cause serious issues when gaming
