Cable connecting from the modem to the router is exactly the same as the colors on the left (in the link given by Kojak) ON BOTH SIDES:
The cable connecting form my router to my computer is the same as the one above.
Does this mean i have the good cables or bad ones? and how do I stop it from disconnecting all the time because it does that on the laptop allot.

It means the cables are fine (it's an older way of creating a Cat5e cable, but it'll work)

Right, your going to have to start from scratch here as I have no idea what could be causing you an issue in all that we have posted.
    * Reset the router (small pin needed at the back to push a button)
    * Enter the router address in a PC connected via ethernet 192.168.1.1 for eg
    * Configure the router as in:-
    check for updates
set the encryption type (WEP2, WPA etc)
do any port forwarding etc you need (or just turn UPNP on)

see if this solves the issue (in 99% of problems it will)

Make sure when reinstalling/ new install you do so in this order:-
    * OS followed by any service packs.
    * Chipset drivers/MOBO drivers (sound, ethernet etc)
    * GPU drivers.

    * any additional software you use, games etc.

*always make sure that chipset/GPU drivers are sourced from the manufacturers website and not the disk that came with the hardware as it will be out of date.
GPU drivers ONLY come from Nvidia or AMD
for chipset drivers see the MOBO manufacturers support/download section for latest drivers

It's the way that I do it and always have and always recommend it be done that way because:-
if you install a GPU driver before a chipset driver (chipset drivers often include AGP/PCI-E drivers) so you see the conflict in this one

In all honesty you dont need to follow my advice, but you know where we are if it all goes wrong :snckr:

The order is important because of how and where the HDD will write the OS to the hard drive, if you install windows and then all the service packs and updates first you should end up with windows on the outer tracks of the HDD Platter and in consecutive sectors, and so make read write speeds of the OS faster, (Well that's the theory many will say it makes no difference)

I'm one of the ones that says 'makes no difference'
It just avoids any problems I listed below. Most HDDs are made from 3 platters ('normally' each platter has 2 surfaces) now anyway so it's not really an issue it once was, Match is referring to 'back in the day' :snckr:

LOL yes, and why do you call the 'C' drive the 'C' drive, and where did the 'A','B' Drives go? :D Because Back in the days of things being slow, (I know where there is a 600Mhz Machine, told the guy to look after it as he will be able to sell it to a museum soon!!) And it did make a difference that's how it was done now things are faster and the difference is not noticed so much it's just basically old habits, but I still believe it makes a Difference in Windows running "Smoothly", I also Believe in Ghosts,Little Green Men from Mars, Fairy's at the Bottom of the garden. :p
