    Hi James

Sorry about the delay in replying but

As far as I'm aware that's supposed to happen :)

That However is not supposed to happen, as the idea of sleep is for you to be able to resume your work faster, However to resolve this may not be simple as it could be anything from a Bios setting to a problem with Windows or a program that runs on windows.

Personally I hate the windows sleep and hibernation and much prefer my system to shut down when I hit the power button so my advice would be to disable sleep and hibernation, unless you have a specific reason for using it.

If you require any help with disabling it let us know or if you want to try and resolve the problem can you let us know the

make and model of the machine?

if you installed/uninstalled anything just prior to the problem, and how long you have had the problem for?

Just a further question to follow up on Match's questions. Is this a PC or is it a laptop that is set to go into standby or sleep when the lid is closed?

I do believe this might be something that you can change in the settings for your Network Adapter, depending on what kind of adapter you are using probably, and whether you are using a desktop or some kind of laptop as the others had mentioned.

I know that my computer would stay connected when in sleep/hibernation mode which I hated because the adapter would be using just as much power as before and when it received incoming information packets (which was every hour or so) it would wake the computer out of sleep by itself.

I changed these settings by going into the Control Panel and into the Device Manager, then finding your Network Adapter and right clicking and finding its properties and settings.

I can't say for certain if your computer will be the same but its always a possibility that you may find a setting in there which is controlling how your network adapter behaves while the computer is in hibernation.
