Hello, this exact same thing happened to me. No volume now!!
I read your advice and I went to the website--but I don't have Windows
vista. I have Windows XP professional version 2002.

Any advice on how to fix it??
    Let me know.
    Thanks.

    Hello,
I may have already posted this--but I don't see my post so decided to
repost. Appologies if this is the 2nd time you see it.

I recently encountered this same problem. I've read through the posts here
    and I don't quite understand??
This happened last sunday 23 Nov. but I don't remember installing any
updates? The last thing I remember doing was installing a program to reduce
video files. It didn't work so I deleted it. My volume still worked though.
It wasn't until the next day the sound just went out.

I tried fixing it by reinstalling stuff as several of the people did and it
didn't work. I tried going to the website and I'm wondering if I can even do
that backup stuff because I have Windows XP 2002--NOT vista??

Can someone help please??? I need the volume for work!!

    Thank you.

bugging me, so i downgraded to xp pro. and now its saying that the
device cannot start (code 10). ive uninstalled and reinstalled,
restarted, checked the manufacturer for updates. any help is
    appreciated.

Not really the same scenario, and the thread you've attached to is largely
expired anyway. Please post a new message spelling out your particular issue in
more detail. As it doesn't sound as if your problem relates to Windows Update,
you may get a better response by posting in microsoft.public.windowsxp.hardware.

  6. I have the same problem but mine is complcated by the fact that this is a new
MS install. All works except the audeo. (strange how you can miss something
like audeo) I get the error "IDT High Def Audeo Codec Code 10. I tried
removing the software. Since the card is built in I can't remove it. Nothing
works. Since I don't have a BU what are my options?

  9. Hi, I am trying to do some clean up and get rid of third-party Internet
utilities, antivirus programs, or firewall programs.
Do I actually need this IDT audio? What exactly is it for? I sure would
appreciate any advice that you could give. Thanks a lot, Heather

Hi, I realize this is a really old issue, but I am having the same one now.
This computer was just converted back to windows from Linux about a week ago.
I reviewed the responses here, and when I went to to do the system restore it
says I had it turned off. Exactly how do I get the audio to work? I've tried
with both the IDT and the Realtek drivers, but everytime I reboot and the
"found new hardware" dialog box pops up and I go through the process of both
automatically and manually installing the drivers, it keeps telling me that
it is unable to start. Do you ahve any suggestions on what I should do?

    Thanks!
    Tasha
