As the title says my icons and startbar are missing from my computer all I can do is rightclick and gaze at my wallpaper. When I right click I'll see my normal options but when I click an option that's normally suppose to bring something up it doesn't come up. I tried doing control alt delete. All I get is a black screen and if I manage to click on something it just doesn't come up. I don't know what may be the problem on clueless. My mom managed to mess up my computer in an attempt to connect my computer with a VGA cable to another computer and solve an issue using control panel. For me this seems impossible to fix so someone please help me. Please and thank you.

Hi YeahHelp, and welcome to Computer Help Forums.

Need a bit more information first...

Can you start your computer in Safe Mode? (If you don't know how...Please ask)

Is this a desktop or a laptop computer?

Do you have an external enclosure/HDD caddy?

Are you able to remove the HDD from your computer?

Do you have a flash stick?

Do you have access to another healthy computer running Win 7?

    Please answer the above questions...Thankyou..

Your answers can change the advice we give you..:)

Before we do anything else..try unplugging the external monitor from your laptop. And then reconnect the external monitor making sure that only the VGA cable is plugged into the laptop. Only two leads should be connected to the monitor...the VGA lead and the power lead.

Look closely at the F Keys on your laptop and find the one with a small image of a monitor on it. Try holding down the Fn Key (the function key) and then toggle the F Key with the monitor icon on it on and off.

Does anything happen when you do this?

PS. Can you tell us the make and model of the laptop?
