it showed I had four severe threats

    Category: Trojan

Description: This program is dangerous and executes commands from an attacker.

Recommended action: Remove this software immediately.

Security Essentials detected programs that may compromise your privacy or damage your computer. You can still access the files that these programs use without removing them (not recommended). To access these files, select the Allow action and click Apply actions. If this option is not available, log on as administrator or ask the security administrator for help.

    Items:
    containerfile:C:\Users\Elkouri 1\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\6.0\60\28aba2fc-1c46d193
    file:C:\Users\Elkouri 1\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\6.0\60\28aba2fc-1c46d193->a6a7a760c0e

Get more information about this item online.

    also stated
your actions were appliied successfully and security essentiials successfully applied your actions and will continue
    monitoring your computer.

I did have a schedule last night for a full scan and i didn't see where it had been scanned.

should i just automatiically do a full scan manually.
    and am I safe now.
    THANKS

I may be stating the obvious and forgive me if I am being overly simplistic but very often people schedule scans for the miiddle of the night and forget to leave the machine running.

As for your current safety, lets hope so. If these items come up again on a scan then we will need to take some action and get you some help.

Other than MSE are you using a malware scanner such as malwarebytes?

Since MSE has an antivirus program as its main component and you are happy with it you must NOT use any other AV program that runs all the time. However, antimalware programs are somewhat different and can run at the same time as an AV program. Antimlaware programs often catch things that conventional AV programs miss.

Malwarebytes comes in 2 versions one is paid and one is free. The major difference between the 2 is that the pro or paid version scans all the time (real time) while the free program only scans when you ask it to. There is a "tria'" program for the paid version but that should not be confused with the free version. If you know you are not going to buy it in 30 day then just go with the free version from the start.

You will find the free version here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free along with a comparison.

Assuming that you select the free version, download and allow it to run. Once the malwarebytes screen come up the first thing you have to do is select the "Update" tab and allow it to be brought up to date. If it asks you again about the pro version you need to decline that and just update. Once you update you can go to the scan tab and select either a quick or full scan. I would suggest that a full scan be run the first time and then you can intersperse some quick scans in the future. I would think that once a week is the minimum for some kind of scan.

I HAVE no virus or any dangers at all. NOW

is IT that i should have run a full scan, myself. as it does not scan automatically
    and i must scan..

SO I will just scan a full one everyday. manually.
    is that OK.
    thanks

If you are talking about malwarebytes Kayrose a full scan every day is a bit of overkill. Perhaps a quick scan every few days and a full scan once a week. But then there are some who would say you are right.

Frankly I think you are a perfect candidate for the Pro version that scans in real time and then an occasional full scan on a schedule.

    and a quick scan daily.
    hows that????

Is it ok if i delete all my attatchments
    in the manage attachments,
as i have a whole lot of them

I had deleted some but I would like to delete them all.

Remember that MSE is scanning in real time so I would not go overboard.

As for your avatar etc. it is the same here as in other forums that you belong to. If you need more information please either PM or post a new thread.

Did you actually scan your system with Malwarebytes Antimalware?
If so, was anything actually found?

    As for MSSE settings,
I'm running MSSE on this sytem and these are my settings:

Hi buddy. I would check to see if all the shields are running for MSE an if any thing is found to place it/them in quarantine. I would then do a full scan with Malwarebytes an again found items in quarantine. After a couple of days if no more problems are encountered I would then deleted the items from both programs quarantine. Them with more knowledge than I please add to this an show her how to set this up.

    Thanks

IM NOT understanding why I had four severe virus's if MSE is scanning in real time.
    thus the need to scan.
    in my mind,

The real time (shield) identified four apparent baddies. When this happens it is always a good idea IMO to do a full scan. People here correct me if I am wrong but I've been lead to believe that only the surface is touched with the real time (shield) scan. Also no one program can cover everything that is out there today that is why the Malwarebytes is called into action as well. Why you had baddies is anyone's guess, it happens that is why we all have the security products. None of these products will stop you from getting baddies it will however tell you that they are/were present an hopefully not allow it/them to be installed onto your machine (that would not be good).

    Thanks
    Wildman

To add to what Wildman said......

In addition to an antivirus program you also need an antispyware - antimalware
program such as malwarebytes. Malwarebytes Although mbam has a free version
it will not protect you in real-time. I prefer the pro version which will give you active
    protection.

Here is something simple to remember Kayrose. All viruses are maleware but not all malware is a virus. That is why there are levels of protection that you should use. I agree with Allheart55 100%. Most users are best off spending the money that has been saved by using a good free antiviurs program and investing in the pro version of malwarebytes.

As the old proverb says: "An ounce of prevention .................................................................!"

Consumers and personal users pay a one-time fee of just $24.95 for MBAM.
That's not bad for a lifetime of cover. (and peace of mind)

First off I want to say what one has in the way of security programs is a matter of personal choice. For me the following is what works.

    (1) PC Tolls Firewall (Free version)

    (2) SpywareBlaster (free), This works with ones WEB browser.

    (3) Avast (Free version). This is the virus one. I run a full scan weekly.

    (4) Malwarebytes (Free version), This one is used if I have the slightest hint something may be amiss an once a week otherwise (I run a full scan).

Also I make sure to keep the definitions on these current. I also make sure that real time protection is active for all the programs that have such an option.

    Thanks
    Wildman
