HP Pavilion dv9500 will only boot up if dvd is in drive

If you go through all the posts you may have. That being said, is the disk that you require to boot into windows 7 the same disk that shows in your screenshot of disk management? That is what I need to know.

 

yes it is....i think i need to reformat the partition.

i put in norton partition magic and all i see is

partition / type / size / used mb / unused mb status / pri/log
error 105

 

Just for the record, I do not believe that your copy of Windows 7 is genuine. Windows Disks are not in CDFS format. What I think is that you have a pirated copy which, while bootable, cannot be installed. I also think it damaged the partition that does not show up in disk management.

I doubt that formatting will help unless you have a genuine retail version of windows and all your drivers.

If you can show me that I am wrong, please do so. Otherwise I will have to close this thread.

 

For the benefit of other members, while we are not the PC Police we do not help with what we conclude is pirated software. For that reason some members "neglect" to tell us that the software is not genuine. The bigger problem is that more often than not all that does is waste our time because the very fact that it is not genuine (particularly if we are talking about an OS) would make it so we would be unable to help even if we wanted to.

In this case it seems that there may be a whole partition damaged.
