I have an HP All In One TouchSmart and I think it may somehow be connected to my TV that is in the the same room.
When I change channels on the TV and light blinks on the computer. Also when the computer is idle I get a message on the TV that power saver has kicked in.Then told to click for more inof ot click ok.
More info didn't help me to understand anything Also sometimes when I am on the computer and the TV is on,the TV will shut off by itself.

So I am thinking they may be connected somehow, although I have never knowingly connected the,
The computer has a remote which I have never used.

Have you ever intended to have the TV and the computer linked? I am assuming that either your TV or a device attached to your TV have wifi capability and that somehow the TV is being recognized as an additional monitor.

Go to your Control Panel and select Power options. There should be a choice between "balanced" and "Power savor" uncheck Powere Savor and that may solve the issue but there may be something else in settings that is causing your TV to recognize some of your computer settings.

I went to the control panel BeeCeeBee and 'power saver' was already unchecked.

Sorry, MissM this seems to have gotten lost. What we still need to know is whether you intended some connection between your TV and the computer. Is your TV wifi enabled for things like netflix or yourtube?

EDIT: Sorry but you do seem to have answered the first part of my question in your initial post and the second may be obvious. Please give us the make and model number of the TV so we can look into this a bit further.

    Hi BeeCeeBee,
No I never intended for the 2 to be connected. As far as the TV wifi and netflix/you tube I have no knowledge of that being the case either.
This morning when I logged on to my PC a bluetooth message popped up.
I have no bluetooth devices ,so went to that and turned all of that off.
Not knowing if that was what was causing the light to flicker and the message on the TV screen to show I thought that may be it.
That didn't make any difference.I turned the TV on,light flickered on the PC and the same message popped up on the TV that says it was in' power saving mode'
    The computer was on.
Other than the annoyance of the message on the TV screen and the TV shutting off at times when I am suing the PC , my concern is security. Should I be concerned about that?

I will check that out and get back to you.
None of this happened though until I got the All In One.

OK this is weird. I have looked at the users manual and all the connections available for that TV. I am assuming that you have not connected the TV to your PC using the VGA input on the TV nor have you connected the two in any other way. Am I correct?

The TV is not wifi enabled and has no ethernet port. So it cannot be connected to any wireless network. For it to function as a monitor it would have to be connected to the PC in some way. If there are absolutely no connections I am really up a tree and am guessing that it may have something to do with the Remote Control for the computer. Since you don't use it, let me suggest that you remove the batteries from it and see if that stops the problem???????????????

Please read my post above but I do have one more question. Is your satellite connected to the PC as well as the TV?

    Hi again,
the batteries are not in the remote,I didn't even take the remote out of its package.
I was just looking at the buttons on it and it has just about everything on it.Too complicated for me..lol

No I have not hooked the 2 together And when I had my linksys unlugged.using dsl modem only (which I have had to do again) the same thing was happening with the TV/PC

And by the way, because you had me check the model # of the TV I saw a lot of dust and had to get the darn dust rag out and get rid of it..its all your fault.. :argue:

Now that I do not know. Should I call Direct TV and see if that is the case?

Probably not. If they were connected there would be a cable from a satellite box directly to the computer or a direct connection from the dish. If none of these exist then there is no point in calling the provider.

Please go to your desktop and right click. Select either graphics properties or screen resolution. You should get a small window that shows your monitor as number 1. Does it show a number 2 as being active or is it greyed out or nonexistent?

Under general settings it says 'built in display'
Under multiple displays it says 'operating mode-single display'
Below that it says 'primary display-built in display'
Going further is says 'Monitor/TV are not supported'

Went further again trying to do prt.scr and it brought up resolution and it said -1-

It just occurred to me that the issue may be with the converter box supplied by Dish. While the TV may not be wifi enabled the Dish box may be. It may not be a bad idea to call them and describe your problem. Maybe they have seen it before. Personally I am at a loss.

Okay,I called Direct TV,he told me that the satellite receiver box has a power saving mode too and that is why it shuts off at times and that I get that message. He could not explain the light blinking on my computer when turning on the TV or changing channels.
So as long as everything is secure and he says it is, I won't worry about it anymore.

Thanks for taking the time to help me BeeCeeBee. :smile2:
