How to remove an iexplore error message?

    Downloaded SpyBot....started having immediate problems, constant error messages. Have now deleted SpyBot, downloaded Spy Sweeper instead.
    IExplore message still occurring: "this program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If problem persists, contact the program vendor." Details: IExplore caused an invalid page fault in module kernel32.dll
    @ 1097: bff87f00.
    Can anyone help me? I would greatly appreciate it. I have Windows 98.
    This is my first time on this site.
