How to enable remote management

I have a box running Windows Server 2003 that I am unable to access via the
Computer Management tools. The server is configured as a standalone server
in a workgroup, and I can ping the server over the network. But when I try
and remotely manage it I get an error message saying that the network path
cannot be found. I am trying to manage the server using the IP address. How
can I enable this functionality short of putting the server on the domain?
    Thanks!

Is the server's remote registry service running? I assume you are logged on
as, or using the RunAs to connect to it using local credentials on that
    specific server?

How about enabling RDP on it and remote into it?

To add, possibly the local firewall is blocking the connection attempt?
