Yes, if Chrome is not listed in programs then delete the shortcut.

In C-Drive I have a programs file folder with over 16,000 folders named chrome or chromium. If I have no Google Chrome do I need all these?

I just uninstalled Microsoft Edge which said it was no longer supported by my windows 7 edition. I am not sure I still have Google Chrome but do have many chrome folders in the Programs folder. I think I got FF ESR, found it worked for me, then uninstalled the problematic Google chrome. I just sent a test message to my previous Google g-mail login and it worked fine. Also my reply worked. So all I really seem to need is the FF ESR. But with the FF I wish I could get rid of the Shield and padlock icon before https: in the address bar so I can drag website URL somewhere else like with Google. FF won't let me drag and drop URLs.

Is it OK to delete all the thousands of chrome and chromium folders I find in the Program Files folder since I cannot find that I still have a Google Chrome installed? See file upload.

WHY can I NOT drag and drop URLs with my FF ESR? Never a problem with google.

I provided a video a few days ago about this. You never responded.

You keep saying dragging to the desktop does not work but never go into any detail.
When you hold down the left mouse button and drag the padlock in front of the URL to your desktop what happens?

NOTHING, except there is a circle with line through it that goes (drags) to desktop. Used to be I dragged many URL's to the desktop folders using Google Chrome or just to the desktop and now with FF ESR it does not work. And I have not been able to find out why or to make it succeed as before. In Firefox there is a shield outline, a padlock which is now closed an https:// that is faded and computerhelpforums.com followed by faded out /threads/how-to-login.55075/page-5#post-221693.
Sometimes the padlock is closed and sometimes a line through it and says NOT SECURE. No matter. I cannot drag and drop these FF ESR URLs to anything and have a copy of it like I could with Google Chrome. But Chrome stopped working and would keep suggesting the Google Help Center. Which was no help at all.

You do not need to keep repeating it worked with chrome but doesn't with FF. We understand that. Chrome is history; concentrate on getting FF set up correctly.

    As far as this https://computerhelpforums.com/attachments/url-will-not-drag-drop-anymore-with-ff-esr-png.15324/
the lock is not faded when I view it on my computer. The padlock is black the same as on all sites I visit.

It doesn't matter if the lock is open or closed because not all sites are secure (open padlock). That has nothing to do with the ability to drag.

Did you watch the video that Tony D took the time to do to show you? Showing how to hold down the left mouse button and drag the padlock to the desktop?

I am afraid I did not watch the video for I did not know how to work it. Still unsure but now I see how to locate it.
The lock IS locked now and NOT faded but it is the https:// that IS faded. The LOCK now is solid black and is closed. Sometimes the lock has a line across it and it says NOT SECURE. I guess the lock is supposed to indicate if secure connection.

    Do not install Edge!!!
Support for Edge on Windows 7 computers ended on January 12, 2023. It is not patched.

Again: FF ESR is the ONLY patched browser for Windows 7.

NOW I KNOW. THANK YOU. I guess that is why I do not have Edge installed.

Received notice IE is going away soon and recommends upgrade to Microsoft Edge. Is this a good or bad idea? See uploaded file.
