I do not understand why I cannot drag and drop a FF ESR URL web address to a folder like I could with Google. The https:// has a faded look and is preceded by a shield and a closed padlock icon at beginning of line. Was not this way in Google. Any ideas????
I tried to make a copy and post an example. See attached.

Can't help because I have used bookmarks with every browser; I have NEVER dragged a web address to the desktop.

You need to get used to using bookmarks. Click the star at the end of the address bar.

The shield means no trackers were found on the site. The padlock means the site is secure. Note the address starts https. Long ago addresses used to start with http only.

Try dragging the little lock to the left of the https://

I just tried it. The http:// remains lighter print , a circle with line through it drags along and still cannot drag & drop.
Cannot get this to work with FF ESR as it did with Google even though still using g-mail.

I think I have decided to uninstall Google Chrome. I have ALWAYS only had one browser at a time and only ONE account. Now I have a FF ESR AND a older google chrome browser each with two accounts and logins and it is really confusing. Especially when I have to make each the default depending on what I wish to do. The FF ESR seems to work fine with g-mail and all else. TWO browsers are TOO CONFUSING. The FF ESR is a replacement and is newest browser NOW but the Google is a previous one . The logins are different and I am always making mistakes and getting confused.

I do not understand "link-sharing". Before with Google I could always drag and drop a website URL and now I cannot, at least not with FF ESR. Is it something you can turn on or off? Like the line above the word "link-sharing" on my reply. Maybe I just do not know how to use it?
In the strip at top of my reply there is a "link" and "unlink" symbol I do not recall seeing anywhere until now. The symbols are at top of my reply.

UNINSTALL: Is there any reason I should NOT uninstall Google Chrome and keep FF ESR since my FF ESR works with G mail and logins and sends and receives? It is just confusing switching back and forth and never being sure what the sign in will be that works. I am used to ONE browser and ONE email service, not 2 or more of each and I cannot get the chrome G mail to work anyway?

There is no reason why you shouldn't and definitely many reasons why you should.

I have a message saying IE is being discontinued and suggests Microsoft Edge instead. Is this a free application that will work with Windows 7? Below is a copy of the notice.

How do I remove the Google Chrome Browser from Windows 7 laptop? I want to remove it but see no options in the ways I removed other things. Under programs and features I do not see it listed. But I wish to keep G-mail-is that a problem?
How can it not be listed under Programs and Features??

You'll have to right-click the start button to access settings. Screenshot_20250123_180219_Google.jpg

Mine does not seem to work like that. I can open Control Panel (see uploaded file) but do not see a Settings option. I uploaded a snip of my control panel contents. Maybe it is best to just stop using Google browser? My Firefox has my old settings from before I switched to Google for whatever reason.

Click on Programs and Features in Control Panel. It is the 8th entry in the far right column.

I just checked this list again. Google Chrome does not appear. I have used this before to remove programs and cannot understand why it is not on the list. I can open the list but why is Google Chrome NOT there???????? If I try to click the shortcut it says it is not there. Should I just delete it? I guess if not on list of programs it has already been removed which would explain why it does not seem to work or appear on list. I must have removed it and not made notes or cannot recall doing so. Maybe that is why it does not work anymore. I guess I only have Firefox now. If I examine Program Files folders I do not see ant Google Chrome listed. I DO see where I DID download G - mail for windows 7 in mid-December though. I guess I just do not have Google anymore which would explain why it does not appear to work or be listed in programs.
I am no computer expert but I cannot find any proof that I actually have Google Chrome at all anymore. C drive folder is running over with chrome and chromium temp folders and it says there are thousands of them.
Firefox ESR is working fine. How can I know for sure I do NOT have Google Chrome anymore???
