Have a DialUp connection that ends tomorrow. How do I remove this connection from PC? I have Windows Live Mail on Windows 7 with DialUp as guest account and it shows up as Dialup connection in Internet Options>Connections in w98 and XP. Also in Network Connections as a SoftK56 Data Fax connection. Dont want to make a mistake and mess up my ethernet or wireless connection.
Final billing was Nov 9 for for Nov to end on Dec 8 which is tomorrow. Would like to remove all indications of it so no problems. Not unhappy and dont mistrust them but last dialup pulled some dirty tactics when they finally just went out of business and closed up while everyone was still online and didnt answer phones or give any prior notice.

Actually I just did this because it is a nuisance having the Dialing box coming up over and over even when I choose Never Dial A Connection. But is that the only place I need to remove traces of the DialUp? I wasnt sure there was a hurry but things are popping up everywhere like in WIndows Live Mail with a cant connect box wanting a username/password that is valid because cant send or receive. I simply removing account sufficient?

Apparently I have to do some resetting. Deleted the dialup from XP and WLM. Can send to myself to remaining account on WLM and OE on those PCs but not from OE PC to WLM PC, or from WLM PC to OE PC. May need to enter server and port info on OE. Thought I used to be able to do this though.

Yes, you will have to change the settings in Windows Live Mail and Outlook Express.

Funny-seems OK now after retry. Can send and receive WLM to and from OE on 7 and XP laptops with wireless. Now must do this with 3 desktops.

Three more questions:I R clicked and removed the dialup connection accounts but do I need to go to CPL>Add/Remove Programs to remove any traces of the dialup ISP that remain, like accerator or other?
And is there any reason that in Internet Options>Connections that the LAN proxy servers should be checked or unchecked? I once was told to check them but the ISP did not require it and I found that they seemed to always be checked anyway so I usually unchecked them. But is this solely up to the user, or is there a certain way or purpose for checking or unchecking them? Never been able to find out.
And the tray always shows a Local Area Connection plug is unplugged Icon with a red "X" on it. Know why this might be?

If everything is working now the way that it should be, I wouldn't remove anything else from the Control Panel but that is your choice.

The LAN proxy servers should be unchecked and then click Save.

You can remove the LAN connection warning from the tray by right clicking and selecting Customize.
Select Hide Icon and Notifications and click Okay.

Seems to be working now. Can send and receive emails from all the PCs to all the PCs and have removed all dialup things. I think the 2 icons in tray with red "x" are Wireless Network 3 which I think I set up by mistake and the Local Area Connection Unplugged may be for that unused network. I am not sure which of the 5 wireless networks shown in addition to my main one pertain to wireless 3. Wireless 2 is the D Link USB adaptor I bought and the other is the Broadcom 802.11g which came with computer and the computer shop said it wasnt working.
Should I just leave this alone? The shop setup the D Link connection 2 and I think I created the broadcom adaptor one.
Afraid if I tinker around not knowing what I am doing i may remove the exra connection that may or may not work but might also mess up the one that DOES. Maybe until/unless sure I will just ignore the icons since I know not a sign of trouble or at least I dont think they are. What do you say?

One more thing. The peoplepconlineaccelerator on XP laptop will not allow me to delete the folder or the prplsf.dll file from it. Says access denied. How can I delete folder and file? Renaming and cutpaste to desktop did not help.
Finally deleted it by changing it from read only which recheked itself, and then restarted. It was gone. Disabled wireless 3 but local area connection is still there with red X.
