Home Server (WHS) - Re-add DATA drives to system after reinstall of OS

    Hi

I have searched for a WHS forum in vain, so apologies if this is in the
    wrong place.

I recently "broke" my WHS install after trying to install some new drivers
for my NIC, so did a "repair install" of the OS which has not really helped
but at leat my server now boots and I can log onto it. HOWEVER I cannot now
re-add the drives to the system.

The server is not completely fixed yet, but I am wary of doing a complete
format of the system in case the drives are somehow "linked" to the install
in some way and by doing so will I irrepairably mess up the situation even
worse. The server was fully patched up before I did a "repair install", but
during the re-install it ended prematuraly with an error message so it is
possible that the WHS install is now not fully up to date, and this could be
    making the problem worse?

All the drives are external USB2.0 devices and appear in the "Server
Storage" tab, but the "repair" button is greyed out and the only option
available to me is the "add" which will wipe the drives of their contents.
If I log onto the system remtely and go into disk management the drives are
showing that the DATA is still on the drives (or at least appears to be
based on the amount of space free), as the DATA is important to me I really
hope I can remedy the situation.

Can anyone please suggest things to try to ensure I can get my DATA back?

If it makes any difference the server is a DELL Optiplex with an 80GB
internal disk (WHS installed to this), the server storage is made up of 3
1TB external USB2.0 drives, and a 0.5TB USB2.0 drive. The DATA was set up
    with folder duplication ON.

    Many thanks in advance

    Mark

I have not personally messed with WHS so I may be way off base here.

But have you tried hooking the external drives up to another system to
see if you can access the data that way?
