I have an msi laptop that is running windows 7. I am trying to burn 13 files to a CD-R or a CD-RW either one have tried both. When I put the cd in it says checking cd then it says I don't have one in there and it pops out. I figured something was wrong with the thing and so I tried another CD of pictures I have to see if it worked and they ran perfect. What is going wrong any ideas.

OK lets first find out if you really have a problem. What program do you use to burn a CD? Try inserting the blank CD and go through the burning process, if it keeps telling you to inset a CD it may be that the problem is with the drive itself. Normally they are not of the highest quality to begin with.

Some of them will not recognize a totally blank CD if you check it with your "Computer" as you would any other drive but at the same time will burn to it using your software.

I also sometimes have a problem getting files to burn and sometimes need to just keep trying. Often a reboot will help. I am convinced that it is because the drive itself is not very good.

Keep in mind that these new drives have several different components and lazers so while it may recognize a CD it may not recognize a DVD or it may see it but not be able to burn.

Hi Menda.Further to what BeeCeeBee has posted.
Is your Firmware up to date?
In Device Manager,if to click on CD/DVD ROM,then click on Properties,
does it say your Device is working properly?
In your Burner Compilation,is it showing your CD/DVD Burner,or something else?
