Hi Gill, and welcome to Computer Help Forums.

Did you run the printer software on both laptops?

    Please click Start/Devices and Printers.

Under "Printers and Faxes"...is your printer listed?

If your printer is listed, then right click on it and choose "Set as default printer"

If your printer is not there then click on "Add a printer", then choose "Add a network, wireless or bluetooth printer"

    Follow any instructions given.

Can you open Notepad (If you haven't already) and try and print something from there.

Go to "Devices and printers" and right click on your printer again...and choose "See whats printing" from the menu.
You should see an option to cancel all print jobs. Do just that.

Now try and print something again.

Hi thanks I will try tonight when I get home as I am at work at the moment and the printer is at home. I think I have already tried this but as I have tried so many things I may be mistaken and will try again anyway in case.

Can you p,uh that new printer into the problem laptop with a USB cable? If so, do that and see if you can print to it.
