May sound daft, but have you tried using the other SATA onboard slot.

Some older boards again, do not have the ability to distinguish slots - this is something else that is now controlled manually by users via BIOS options.

Yes i have tried this as well but it also gave the same problem of getting stuck at the raid screen.

So there seems to be some kind of complict between the SATA CD Drive and the SATA Hard drive :S

Okay this is going slightly out of my knowledge base for SATA conflicts. :(

But I am still positive that it is leading to being resolved by a BIOS update of some sort.

Okay, so to recap and get all the facts straight here,

You are using an IDE/ATA CD Drive? (standard)
    A SATA HDD (new)
    and an IDE HDD (old)?

And when the New drive is disconnected, you can boot from CD ROM, but as soon as you connect the new drive it won't boot from CD ROM?

What happens when you try? Does it just load windows as usual? Or is this when it gets stuck on the RAID screen?

I am assuming, when booting from CD with the new drive attacjed your Boot order is set as:
    CD DROM
    Old HDD
    New HDD.

You have tried swapping the HDD onto the other SATA port and no difference.

And when you tried installing through the CD when within Windows, it errors when you try select which drve to install it on.

The SATA jumpers are set to Enabled by default on your mainboard.

If the above is correct, the only options that seem possible to check are, using a PCI SATA add in card instead of the onboard SATA ports.

    And/or

Updating the BIOS to a modded version with the SATA drivers.

Obviously the add in card option would be safest, but from looking around you may spend money buying one to find it also wont work without a BIOS update.
But the BIOS option is also most dangerous to your system if done incorrectly.

Yes your right about everything. I won't be able to afford one of these PCI cards for a while but using the way it is now will work until I upgrade motherboards. Thanks for the help and let me know if you find anything new on this. I searched google quite a few times over and havent been able to find a solution myself either. Thanks again

Okay, well be sure to keep checking back as although BIOS Flashing with a Modded version sounds scary, if done correctly [also easy to do with step by step instructions] could indeed fix your issue. Also any other ideas we may have for you will be posted here too :)

But that is solely down to you to decide if you wish to go this route, and I would invite someone else to give the step by step instructions as I know there are people much more knowledgable about BIOS flashing than myself right now :p

I would happily Flash my own system as it's my fault and my problem if I go wrong! :D But I wouldn't play chance with your's as a corrupt BIOS can be a hefty problem and annoying to sort out including lots of posting motherboards back to manufacturers.

It would see the hard drive, but I could not put any files or anything else on it. try updating your bios maybe you will get lucky and that will work
