I was interested in getting a product called the Stealthsurfer for my
computer security. Is anyone familiar with this? It looks pretty good.

I have not used it neonguy and was surprised, when I did a little research, to find out that it was hardware rather than some new anti spyware product.

From the reviews I have read I can make a few comments.

The first thing I noticed was that most of the reviews are a bit dated and I did not find that many where I recognized the source. Although there were some and so we at least know the device is legit.

It also uses its own integrated browser (I believe a version of Firefox now ) and is limited in its storage capacity. If, in fact, it protects your private information from being picked up and stored by a public computer (and you use a lot of public computers) it seems like a pretty good idea.

I am a little skeptical about its usefulness on your own PC and feel that everything that it accomplishes can be done using readily available software at a much lower cost (if not for free.) I am also not a fan of storing any important information on a flash drive. I am one of those who believe that they should be used for moving information rather than long term storage. From what I gather this is a flash drive loaded with proprietary software which makes your data subject to the quality of the hardware itself.

My bottom line suggestion is to evaluate how it would fit in to your internet usage. If you feel it would solve specific issues for you, I would spend some time on google going deeper than I did and see if there are any issues or problems reported.

Of course that does not answer the actual question you have posed. "Has anybody used this product? It may well be that someone here has. Watch this space.:)

Thank you for your help. I like the fact that I can be anonymous on my computer which should prevent cyber attacks. Yes the reviews on this were from 05, but I would think this should be even better since then.
    Thanks for your help.

The thing is anonymity does not necessarily make you any safer from malicious downloads, viruses or general malware. If you download something dodgy it is not going to care that it cant read your IP address. It is just going to infect your machine.

There are other ways of attaining anonymity if that is all that you are looking for. As I said, I have not used it so these are just general observations.

It is unfortunate that you chose to mislead our members with your question. You make it seem that you were interested in an opinion when it turns out that you are selling the thing.

Spam takes many forms neonguy and I would not expect many members to want to buy from someone who resorts to it on our forum.

This thread is closed and if I find that you have emailed or PMd members other than myself a warning about you and your product will follow.
