Hi, I have GTA San Andreas for the PC. Now, I play a multiplayer mod for it called San Andreas Multiplayer. I NEVER have problems with SA-MP. However, since I got the game, when I play singleplayer, it eventually crashes and comes up "GTA San Andrea has crashed and stopped responding" and it'll give me an option to close the .exe.

Any ideas to fix this? I tried re-installing, running as admin, and even setting compatability modes and it just wont work. My PC def. can run it.

    I'm using Win 7, 64 bit.

From what I gather there is a patch or patches available for that game. However since I really have no idea at all about what gaming sites are reputable or not I am not going to even try to suggest anything beyond a google search.

Is this a copy from a disk or a download and if the latter, is it a legitimate copy.

I gather from your explanation you didn't try the game in Single player without the mod?

Either way I would first try the single player game without the mod (if you haven't already), if that works at least you know it is something to do with the mod, as these mods aren't obviously going to be bugfree.

Also what version of that Mod are you using? It looks like 3E is the latest version.

From what I've read it sounds like settings files being corrupt/set wrong can cause problems like this, so if all else fails totally remove the mod and re install fresh, you'll need to find the files it installs, I don't own the game but my guess would be your game install folder on C: and AppData folder (hidden folder under your username).

It is a download, ill-legitimate, nephew broke disk, financial issues w/o work atm, but I should receive money from graduation, then I'll buy a full copy from ebay. I think I might try putting it on a disk, to see if it crashes because it cant find a disk in the drive.

I have tried without the mod, it has not made a difference. The mod draws from the games files, but does not modify them, an enables play on servers. And I have friends with the same mod, who never have trouble with single player. I have friends with the same copy, no issues.

I was wondering if it had something to do with Win 7 64 bit, but it weirdly doesn't make a difference if ran in compatability mode.

Yeah I didn't mean the mod changing the game files when I mentioned settings files, I meant the settings files of the mod, try finding those deleting and reinstalling.

Do your friends play from the retail copy rather than a download? That is most likely your problem if true.

Technically I shouldn't help any further as we know the game is illegitimate, but I believe that you do have the product key from your old (broken) disc and while copyright law and the companies would probably say otherwise, it's still a legal copy in the sense that you have the product key required to play/have use of the game.

Burning the download to a disc does break copyright law, so I'll have to stop there, forum policy and all, do let us know how you get on though.
