Greyish Opaque Band In Middle Of Screen

    Twice in last 2 weeks, I have experienced a 2 inch high band across 80% of the width of the screen and centered. I can see blurred items behind it but am unable to click on anything unless I move the background window. I am unable to move the opaque window. "Show the desktop" does not remove it. I have killed all applications. The only thing I have been able to do is shutdown and boot up. This is a new problem for me. I have 40 years computer systems experience but Windows 7 is still new to me.
    If it happens again I will try to capture a screen shot for what its worth.

    Obviously there is nothing to look at and anything that I may say is just a guess. However, the fact that you seem to have "blurred items" behind this band makes me wonder if it may have something to do with Aero. What is your windows experience rating for graphics and Aero?
