I'm getting a code 28 on my HP Compaq 7700. The device manager shows it in the other devices . It's showing PCI serial port driver missing, same thing on PCI Simple Communications Controller. I've tried everything it has asked me to do but I still can't get the problems resolved. Is there anyone out there could help me with my situation? Thanks in advance to anyone who replies.

I tried this and it still shows an exclamation triangle : PCI Serial Port missing; PCI Simple Communications Controller. I don't know what to do.

Try right-clicking on the device and choose Uninstall. Then restart your computer. The device driver should reload automatically.

Question: Other than this error message, is there anything on the computer that is affected?

    Not that I'm aware of.
