FWIW, I have too many pc's, most now with Win 7. Like a lot of people I was most unhappy with a Win 8 laptop I purchased, but after modifying it with aftermarket apps got it to look and behave like the older systems that I was used to.

When Win 10 pre release became available I signed up and found an awkward piece of carp o/s that was ordinary at best, Again it got played with to resemble something more familiar, but I was resigned to the fact that you can't make a silk purse from a sows ear.

With the introduction of the full release version of 1o I installed it on one of my machines and lo and behold it just works. The machine was not new but all drivers were found and everything works with no modifications to make it a nice o/s. The pc has never run so well, and I'm now a convert. With the restriction of having to update first and then reinstall lifted I really cant wait to update all my computers to 10. Also with the abundance of privacy tools for 10 it's easy to shun Micro$oft. There is no longer anything to hate. To finish, Windows 10 is not going to go away, so why not go with it, we will all have to live with it or a newer 10 one day.:)

A common story... 10 is easy to like. Good productivity/security/functionality/compatibility, easy to use and makes computing fun, pleasant & enjoyable.

Windows XP was great in it's days, but like all good things, they come to an end. Forget the fact it's not supported, but modern hardware will not be utilized to it's potential on a XP platform and that's if you can even find driver's as not many will write driver's for XP any longer. I will admit that I was not a fan of 10 at first and went back to 7. I then gave it another go and grew to like it. Once you turn off all the"contact home base" crap it runs well. Time to put XP out to pasture and move on.

I should also add that if you don't use Cortana then completely turn it off including in Services. It eats bandwidth and hard drive activity as it communicates with Microsoft a fare bit. In fact my new laptop was really slow one afternoon so I opened task manager and my hard drive usage was pegged at 100%. Turns out it was Cortana. Turned it off and have not had that issue since.

I'm not telling you or anyone what to do, just stating the truth. For the record, the majority of those XP users are in poorer countries that still use old computers (hardware) as they can't afford anything better.

Sorry not services. Go to the folder: C:/Windows/SystemApps/Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_cw5n1h2txyewy and right click "searchUI.exe and select Unlocker then rename it. I just added .bak to the end so if I did want to use it later I could find it easily. I meant turn off the Cortana Service.

Nothing wrong with XP if it does what you want, and the sky's not going to fall in security wise if you do use it. Win 10 like it or not is going to be the mainstream o/s in the not too distant future. I like to try and stay with the current flavour, and added to the fact that for most it is free, why not give it a try as it's only a system restore image to go back to whatever you had..

XP is still fine if you want to use it, then by all means use it. I just know it's a dinosaur compared to Windows 7 and up. I put it in a virtual box and couldn't stand using it. It's simply outdated, but works fine if that's your flavor.

I have all my computers running Winows7 SPI. This computer I am posting with also has Windows10 Redstone 1 (14316) dual boot.
The point I was making I have friends who have XP SP3. I put XP SP3 on a friends computer and took Vista off.
They say they have much more freedom to manipulate their pictures Folder.
They know the risks because I told them. Who am I to judge.
They want XP SP3 I will install for them.
I don't want to come across as a Dictator.:)

If they're using it for personal use and no banking or bills then yes as some are more comfortable using what they know, but realize this, the day is coming fast that no one will have any support for XP.

Are you referring to banking information stored on the XP machine, or information keyed in at the time?

Doing your Banking over the internet which requires passwords.
Also paying bills online using your credit/debit card details.
When paying bills online some ask for the 3 numbers also on the back of your card.
This information can easily be taken by Crims.

Just wondering, because I have a problem with keeping any important log in information on any computer. There is also a more secure way to fill in names and passwords for this important stuff too, by alternating between a name character and a password one. I have seen financial institutions recommend this to avoid keystroke recognition.
