Folder Redirection

    mandg Guest

    I have an objective to redirect the 'My Documents' folder for all users to
    our network file server.

    First, with the features that MS Office 2007's Groove offers, I'd like to
    know if this could be a suitable replacement. My suspicions tell me that this
    would be most effective for Office app's only- and not necessarily general
    files such as pdf, exe, txt, etc.

    The environment has a good mix of laptop and desktops users so, with folder
    redirection or some other solution, I know that I'd need to implement some
    solution for offline folder caching as well.

    I'll likely have more questions for either solution, just want to get an
    idea for what path to pursue first- Thanks!

    I don't know anything about Groove so I can't tell you much about it. But it
    isn't really relevant to your question as asked, so I'll move on.....<!--coloro:blue--><span style="color:blue <!--/coloro-->

    Offline files can be controlled at the share (enabled/disabled), via GPO for
    users or for computers. You could put laptops in an OU that had a GPO for
    offline files, and desktops in an OU that had a GPO disallowing offline
    files.<!--coloro:blue--><span style="color:blue <!--/coloro-->
