Apparently firefox 42 has been downloaded. It happened so fast the other day and I did not give it any thought until the computer crashes or is very slow.

I tried to do a system restore this morning and went back to the latest time mentioned (Oct 30). When doing so I could not get on firefox at all. Said error. So I went to download firefox using the IE browser and all that was coming up was firefox 42. So I reinstalled 42.

I found the following link to try to help me: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/find-what-version-firefox-you-are-using and followed instructions to see which number I have.

Question: How do I get the previous version that I had?

And it was mentioned: beta. What does that mean exactly?

    Thanks!

    Glad

Beta anything is not ready for prime time, still in testing mode. Most versions of FF are available from the Mozilla web site.

Note that there is a problem. The "About" dialog dose NOT show if your are running 32bit or 64bit.

I installed Firefox 42 64bit but the only way I know that is that I got the 64bit installer from Mozilla's FTP listing.

I already sent Firefox feedback requesting the the "About" dialog show 32bit or 64bit.

It may help if every Firefox user send the same feedback request ;)

Thanks.....I did a bit of research and found out that going back to an older version of firefox might not be a good thing. It was suggested that I refresh firefox and I did so. Computer working much better now.

Came back to say I am using Windows 7 64 bit

Unfortunately there is little within Firefox itself that will tell you if you have the 32bit or the 64bit version installed. However, you can find out by clicking the start orb, then "Computer", double click the C drive, you should see "Program Files" and also "Program Files (x86)" Look in both, if Mozila Firefox is in the "Program files" it is a 64bit version, if it is in "Program Files (x86)" it is the 32bit version.

If Firefox is still a bit unstable or just not working properly, click on "Help" and then select "Restart with add ons disabled". If it then runs OK you have a bad add on or plug in. It means re-enabling each add on one at a time till you find the one causing the problem.
