Existing Root CA -> New Root / Sub CA Hierarchy

Discussion in 'Windows Home Server' started by Manuel Behner, Aug 3, 2009.

  1. Hi NG,

i have a problem with installing a new root / sub ca hierarchy while there
is already an existing root ca.

    background:
i´ve installed a active directory integrated root ca for several small
reasons. now that thing is growing and i wanna to get that thing on for the
future (backup reasons, flexibility, fault tolerance...). so i decided to to
setup a independet root ca und two active directory integrated sub ca´s.

    problem:
i installed the independent root ca - so far so good. now i try to setup the
first sub ca. the problem now is that he´s not asking which root ca he
should choose, he´s just choosing the old exisiting active directory root
ca. and there´s no chance to choose the ne independent one.

    question:
is there a way that i can choose the root ca? i don´t want to uninstall the
old one an install the new hierarchy in a weekend operation. but if i have
to, will it work? any experience?

    any help is really appreciated!

    thanks!

    regards,

    manuel
