    Hi Snoopy...:)

Not that I'm doubting your word, but are you certain that you don't have malware? If you are, then all well and good...but if there is a chance that you could have missed something then if you haven't already done it, run Malwarebytes in Safe Mode.

In addition to the above try and empty your Temp folder...You probably know how to do this, but for everyones benefit..

    In Windows 7:
    • Click the Start button/orb
    • Type the following...%Temp%
    • Left click once on the Temp folder.
    • Go Edit > Select all...(Or hit Ctrl + A on the keyboard)
    • Then go File > Delete
Note: After clicking delete, if there are any files that cannot be deleted, just click Skip.

    Hope this helps out..

Thanks ... I have Malwarebytes Pro... ran a full scan .. came up with nothing. Also did a system restore .. still there.
Am going to give the computer a good housecleaning and also try your suggestion & empty the temporary folder which I did not do. Wish me luck.

forgot to mention I am still using Windows XP on my desktop.

From memory, on an XP machine I think you just click Start > Run....and then type %Temp%.

I did that and cleaned out all the temp files. Then I cleaned all unnecessary junk that accumulates and even a system restore. I am just wondering - I used Revo uninstaller to uninstal several programs I no longer need or use and maybe some program connected to the one removed might be causing that error that the module could not be found? Does that make any sense? If that is the case, I can live with it until I switch from XP to Windows 8. My computer does not appear to be negatively affected and any programs I use seem to work just fine.

Hi Snoopy, you just may well be right that it is some odd file associated with something you removed with Revo.
Not too sure if the cnmss file is a start up extension thing or not, as I cannot find a direct hit or description of it, and the nearest is a plain cnm file with not much info about that either.
If it is giving no trouble and the rest of the computer runs OK you just might have to live with it till something more can be found about it.

I did a little seaching on cnmss. It may be associated with a Canon product.

You may be on to something. I had an old canon printer that died and purchased a new one .. it may well be something left over from the old canon uninstal.

    Thanks to everyone who helped.
