Is it worthwhile to install encryption software? My sunday newspaper had an article about the benefits of encryption software. They suggested the paid or free version of "Cypherix". http://www.cypherix.com/. The article also mentioned that if you forget your password you're in trouble. I'm wondering if the above software is basically for online banking/investment business?

I have never had the need to install any encryption software, so am unable to comment from experience on the software you mention.
I can see that encryption is very worthwhile for business's ... especially when storing customer details, sensitive material etc.
But is a normal household system worth going to all that trouble? ..... i suppose it all depends on what you have on your system.

Having just read Starbucks post, a thought struck me that if for example you use a multitude of passwords for each website log in, or passwords for other purposes, which is advisable any way, you could keep them on a document file, then encrypt it using a good strong but easily remembered encryption password. Same of course for any document containing sensitive data such as full banking details etc. Even the wife's birthday.
