Maybe I will get Opera Browser again and Opera Mail again like I had before I got Google and Gmail. I have a download link I recently got and it worked fine before.

None of us asked you to use your shortcut - clearly it is broken so stop doing that.

Tony D asked you to type mail.google.com into a browser and post exactly what happens when you do that. Don't click anything. Describe what you see.

In fact, type mail.google.com into a few different browsers and post exactly what happens.

That helps a lot. You're 'zoomed' in too far.
Hold the CTRL key down. While holding the CTRL key down, tap the - key a few times. The more times you tap the - key, the more you will zoom out. If you zoom out too far, hold the CTRL key and press the + key to zoom back in.

When I sign in to gmail with my wife's account I get to her gmail page. Something is wrong with my own though. When I try it wants to send me a 6-digit text message which I have no way of doing. I am not sure "what" helps a lot though.
I typed mail.google.com as you said then the desktop Gmail icon opened the gmail account for my wife.

Now I am signed in as my usual BGBG and able to post this. This gmail thing is very confusing however I seem to be able to click the desk icon and have it come up and be logged in. Have no idea why it works now and not before. But I am now signd in as the usual BGBG and I can open gmail with the desktop icon. For now at least.

I also have an old Logitech mouse that I cannot get to work in place of the one I am using. Even though I plug into the same jack.I used it with my older windows 7 laptop.

Is Opera browser a good choice?
Doesn't seem to work. Maybe because I am signed in as guest. Or actually as Person 1.

Forget Opera. It is no longer supported on Windows 7. You don't want to be surfing using an unpatched browser.

The only browser that is still being patched for Windows 7 is Firefox ESR (Extended Support Release).

    32 bit download
    Code:
    https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/desktop-esr/win/en-US/
    64 bit download
    Code:
    https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/desktop-esr/win64/en-US/

Now I have gotten Firefox. Also I see I am going to have to change many things and re-familiarize. Like STARTING OVER. No time for that now. More urgencies to tend to.

Is it better to simply keep using Firefox with a Google search than fool around trying to figure out how to replace or fix g-mail and Google browser?

You had no success trying to fix gmail and Chrome browser is not patched on Windows 7. If you want to be safe, then browsing with FF ESR is the correct way to do it.

Have to explain this. Never had so much trouble. Google Chrome stopped working and I downloaded and returned to Firefox like I USED to have for a long time. I guess its Passwords list are from then for many or most do not work. I made Google search my default in Firefox which may have been a mistake. Now things are all messed up and I do not seem to know how to put them back. Would like to return to Google Chrome and Google search engine as default. Never had so much trouble. Everything used to be so automatic. Never had to think. Now even if think it is never RIGHT. Do not know how to get back like it was. Do not know what my Google passwords were OR the Firefox ones if different. Almost none of them work now. Would like to download a Google Chrome 64 bit that would work with my Google g-mail but do not know exactly how. Most of what I try to do does not work. Maybe I can find a list of passwords and logins somewhere. and write them in a book. I thought I should do this before but never did. Am really struggling trying to recover to the automatic state I used to be in. I am unsure why Google Chrome quit working or if it it was just old or Windows 7 was too old. Or if I was. Always in a hurry and constantly failing.
(I was continuing to type more but hit a wrong key and erased it all so I will stop now). How do I get FF ESR???

First and this is important, be 100% positive that you have all your passwords (also username for sites) in chrome written down on paper.
Open Firefox and click on Tools then Settings. In the left column click on Privacy & Security. In the right column, scroll down until you get to the section Logins and passwords.

Make sure the following are checked:
Ask to save logins and passwords for sites
    Autofill logins and passwords
    Suggest and generate strong passwords
Suggest Firefox Relay email masks to protect your email address
Show alerts about passwords for breached sites

Then go back and aside of those 4 items you will see the hot links Exceptions and Saved Logins.
Click on Saved Logins and remove all your saved passwords in there.

The first time you go to your saved sites, you will have to type in your username and password. You will get a popup asking if you want to save the information. Click Yes. You should then have all your sites working with the proper username as well as the correct password.

I usually use Google Chrome browser and Gmail but do not have texting phones. I have a problem logging in to Gmail and it wants me to go to Help Center and to send me a text 6 digit code but if I do that I know not what to do. I believe my Google account has a problem with the recovery email phone number and it wants to send me a text code. I need a phone number option and not a text. What can I do???? Having trouble logging in.

There are 2 recovery email options for gmail: a recovery email that is different from gmail and/or a phone number that can receive texts. That's it.
Since a) you do not have another email address aside from the broken gmail and b) your phone can not get texts you are out of options.

I set up our gmail account with different email addresses and that's how we recover them IF we have a problem. So far we haven't.
