Hi. I have a Dell Optiplex 755 with a TS-H653 Samsung DVD drive. It suddenly (about 2 hours ago) stopped reading/playing/recognising DVD's but it will play audio CD's.
I have updated the driver from Dells website. Doing a System Restore does not fix the issue. I am posting this in the W7 forum rather than the hardware forum because I suspect that this is a OS issue since it obviously works (plays Cd's) and has the most recent driver.
Any ideas, or help would be very much appreciated. OS is W7 Home Premium

If DSTM's link doesn't fix it for you there is a possibility that the laser that reads the DVDs is damaged / mis-aligned.

There are 2 lasers in the drive. One each for CDs and DVDs.

Check to see if there are any firmware updates as opposed to device drivers -
READ the instructions very carefully because if you do it wrong you have a new paperweight
