Hi, which browser are you using, Internet Explorer or another such as Firefox?
You have me confused as to what you mean by "Download line" can you explain in a bit more detail please.
If you can tell us which browser, we can then advise on how best to manage downloads, and also set where they go to on your computer.

I use Firefox as my Browser.
I used to go to Start, Documents, Downloads
but the Downloads line is no longer there. I am talking about the top left part of page where it says Favorites, Desktop, Recent Places, then Downloads (Downloads is no longer there).

Hi. Firefox doesn't say "Favourites", Firefox says "Bookmarks".
    I use Firefox V. 26.
You sure you are using Firefox?:)

I have used Firefox since I got this PC in Jan. 2012. My latest update was for Firefox 26.0

Click on "Tools" up the top. If it doesn't say "Downloads" then reinstall Firefox.
I find your #4 very confusing to read. Whether you have lost the path or the folder itself.:)

Hi are you talking about the Windows 7 start menu, or are we still talking about Firefox?

If you mean the start menu, Click "Start" orb then try typing in the search bar at the bottom, the word Downloads. See if that finds the downloads folder.

If windows says "The Folder is Empty" then there isn't much you can do unless you have moved the contents elsewhere.
No recovery program would recover them as the files would have long been written over by now.
